Vincent Price was not the dark and evil monstrosity he often represented on-screen when at home, according to his daughter and author of his biography, Victoria1, but he certainly enjoyed portraying them. She's just launched a new site for him!
Vincent's first big break was as “bad guy” Mr. Manningham in Angel Street led to the long and memorable career lasting until his passing in 1993, just a few years after finishing Edward Scissorhands.
What music do we know of associated with Vincent?? Of course there’s Thriller, and that time he did the Monster Mash...
but what else?
As it turns out, Mr. Price was quite the singer .There’s a website strictly devoted to his music: Vincent Sings. Not only does it feature an archive of songs performed by or sampling Mr. Price, it has also gathered songs about him! My personal favorite is still the one by Zombina and the Skeletones. Another reason to love Vincent Price: he was an accomplished chef! He produced his own cookbook, and gave some wonderful lessons on meal preparation. The bonus is that anything said was automatically given that darkly amused tone of gloom he was famous for! His pork chops are legendary!
For more about the man behind some of cinema’s most spooktacular tales (and a few that were a little awful, let’s be honest, Dr. Goldfoot!) on TCM's Vincent page. My favorites are those from the works of Poe!
Even More reasons to love Vincent:
John Waters loves him too!
And of course, so does Tim Burton:
